(A) Introduction
Aeronautical Engineering is one of the best undergraduate programs in aviation. Aeronautical Engineering is the study that involves researching, designing, constructing, testing and manufacturing of the aircraft within Earth's atmosphere. Aeronautical Engineering is one of the most popular fields of the students who have strong desire to make their career in airplanes, jet planes, space shuttles.
Aeronautical Engineering is the deep study of "Aeronautics". Aeronautics term has come from the ancient Greek word "Aer" which means "Air" and "Nautike" which means ' navigation of the air'.
(B) Course and Duration
Aeronautical Engineering courses are the branch of Aircraft Engineering that is related to the manufacturing of aircraft and its parts. The Aeronautical Engineering course duration is 4 years as it is a B Tech / BE course. And in this duration of 4 years, there are 8 semesters.
There are four types of courses of Aeronautical Engineering in India:-
(1) Polytechnic Diploma Course of 3 years after 10th or 10+2 examination.
(2) UG Degree Courses of BE/B. Tech. with the duration of 4 years after 10+2 examination.
(3) PG Degree courses leading to the ME/M.Tech with the duration of 2 years after the completion UG degree.
(4) Doctoral Degree Courses leading to the PhD domain with the duration of 1-2 years after the completion of PG degree in AE
(C) Aeronautical Engineering Qualification
Aeronautical Engineering qualification should fulfill before taking admission. The students who wish to pursue this program have to fulfill the Aeronautical Engineering Eligibility criteria for the entrance to get admission in Aeronautical Engineering Institutes:-
- The candidate must pass the 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Or AICTE approved 3 years engineering diploma in any stream or any higher qualification in science with Physics and Mathematics at the time of admission in Institutes.
- Candidate must have minimum 50% marks in 10+2 in PCM or equivalent
- An applicant's age can be between 16 to 28 years at the time of admission
(D) Admission Process
Students need to appear in JEE Main 2020 to get the admission into engineering courses. For admission to PG engineering courses like M.Tech candidates have to appear is GATE 2020 exam.
Top Aeronautical colleges in India are given below:-
- Indian Institute Of Technology, IIT Bombay
- Indian Institute Of Technology, IIT Kharagpur
- Indian Institute Of Technology, IIT Madras
- Indian Institute Of Technology, IIT Kanpur
(E) Aeronautical Engineering Subjects
The aeronautical engineering course duration is 4 years which includes 8 semesters. One semesters out of the eight have practical training in the live environment and other semesters have sessions. In each academic session, there are approximately 6-7 Aeronautical courses of Engineering subjects in each semester which students has to qualify to attain the B.Tech ( AE ) Degree. The following topics you will be discuss in this program.
- Materials sciences
- Propulsion
- Structural Analysis
- Fluid Dynamics
- Automatic Control and Guidance
- Aircraft Performance and Aircraft Structures
